Reykjavik is very compact. There is a bus shuttle that will get you from the airport into downtown Reykjavik, although, with 6 people a taxi might be the same or cheaper. Once downtown, most of the things to do in this article are easily walkable if you are staying at a central hotel. You’ll probably want to use the bus for the hot pools and the National Museum. To see anything outside of the city (like the waterfalls on the Golden Circle), you’ll want to do a day tour. However, with six people, the pricing on that will certainly add up. I would consider getting the car if you want to see things outside of the city.
