I’ve been to Bonaire six times, windsurfing and snorkelling. It’s a lovely place! A tropical island with European security. I’d go back again but now it’s such a long, long way away.

In reply to Louise. Since we don't dive, we didn't rent a truck. We just got a normal passenger car. It was fine for everything but the national park on the north end of the island. Have a great time.

My husband I will be going to Bonaire this Sept for the first time. I don’t drive stick so we rented an automatic pickup truck. Someone mentioned on BonaireTalk that there aren’t many automatics available on the island, so that needed to be reserved well in advance. Thank you for all of the suggestions, I’m really looking forward to seeing this beautiful island.

In reply to Laura Young. We did not go into the national park. We had a passenger car and I heard that you need more clearance for that. But if you are already renting one of the trucks w/ the dive racks, then going into the park would be fun.

As an all too typical American, I don’t drive a stick and when I was in Bonaire, I wanted to rent a truck as some roads need a truck. Did you go to Washington Park with your Smaller car?
